people from top graduate and undergraduate programs. Generally, MBA candidates

Analyst
Who Should Apply and When?
Candidates currently enrolled in their final year of a bachelor’s
degree program with a concentration in finance, accounting or engineering
coupled with related course work in business. The Analyst recruiting season
typically begins in September of each year and usually closes at the end
of October.
Analyst Program for Corporate Finance
Simmons & Company offers a two-year Analyst program to entry-level
candidates with a bachelor’s degree with a concentration in finance,
accounting or engineering coupled with related course work in business.
Corporate Finance Analysts at Simmons are actively involved in all aspects
of client projects including mergers and acquisitions, equity offerings,
debt offerings, private placements and other types of transactions. Project
teams are kept small, which enables Analysts to have a meaningful role
in their projects. Analysts are primarily responsible for the financial
analysis associated with a transaction, but will also complete company
and industry research assignments.
As Corporate Finance assignments involve significant interaction with
senior client personnel, Simmons values maturity and strong presentation
skills in evaluating Analyst candidates. Time management skills are also
important as Analysts are routinely staffed on multiple assignments. Finally,
a strong emphasis is placed on an Analyst candidate's ability to work
well in a team environment and to mesh with Simmons' unique culture.
Simmons seeks individuals with strong analytical ability, excellent written
and verbal communication skills, intellectual curiosity, a desire to work
with people in a team-based environment, a sense of humor, and most importantly,
a commitment to excellence and integrity at all times.
Simmons & Company also offers analyst opportunities within our Institutional
Research
group(s). This is a fulltime position and is based on availability only.

Associate
Who Should Apply and When?
Candidates currently enrolled in their final year of an MBA program with
concentration in finance, accounting, engineering, or economics. The Associate
recruiting season typically begins in September of each year and usually
closes at the end of November. This is a fulltime position in both our
Corporate Finance and Institutional Research Groups. Associate positions
within our Institutional Research department are based upon availability
only.
Associate Program for Corporate Finance
The primary objective for an Associate is to gain the experience, judgment
and maturity necessary to assume a leadership role in managing projects
and in marketing the firm’s services effectively. As an Associate,
one can expect to progress through assignments of increasing responsibility
toward levels of Vice President, Director and Managing Director.
An Associate can expect to have immediate and substantial client contact,
including written and verbal presentations. Simmons emphasizes analysis,
so an Associate should anticipate considerable quantitative work. All
projects are organized on a team basis, and typically include a Managing
Director, Vice President and/or Director, Associate, Analyst and associated
support staff. Though the Managing Director serves as the ultimate project
manager, an Associate and/or Vice President will generally manage day-to-day
activities.
Simmons seeks MBAs with strong analytical ability, excellent written and
verbal communication skills, intellectual curiosity, a desire to work
with people in a team-based environment, sense of humor, and importantly,
a commitment to excellence and integrity at all times.
